How to add animated captions

  1. Upload your video
Vertical or horizontal, MP4, MOV or WEBM. It opens in your browser and is never sent to a server.
  2. Generate captions
AI detects each word and when it's spoken. Pick a style (karaoke, word by word, box, comic or classic) and fix anything.
  3. Download
Get an MP4 with the captions burned in, ready for any social network. You can also download the SRT.

Why captioned videos perform better

Many short videos are watched with the sound off. Without text on screen, those viewers scroll past. Animated captions that highlight each word as it's spoken also catch the eye and keep people watching, and they make your content accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers.

What paid caption apps charge for, free

Caption apps usually give you a few free videos a month with a watermark or a length cap, and charge a subscription to remove them. Here the video is processed on your own device, so we don't pay for servers per video and can keep it free and unlimited. The site is supported by ads.

FAQ

Is it really free with no watermark?

Yes. There is no paid plan and no watermark. Processing happens on your device, so we have no per-video costs; the site is funded by ads.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is opened, transcribed and re-encoded inside your browser. Only the page code and the speech model (first time) are downloaded.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, on recent phones with an up-to-date browser. Creating the final video requires the browser's video encoding feature (WebCodecs); if your phone lacks it, we'll tell you and you can still download the SRT file.

What format is the video?

MP4, compatible with every social network and phone. If your browser can't create MP4, WebM is used. The original sound is kept.

Can I use my own subtitle file?

Yes. Click “Already have subtitles? Load an SRT or VTT”, pick a style and download. See burn subtitles into a video.
